What is the importance of diversity in the workplace (help me brainstorm please)?

Hello all, I’m trying to do an essay on the importance of diversity training in the workplace. I need a little push to get started. Anyone have any ideas? I mean I know for sucessful HR, diversity training is a necessity. Plus I remember doing diversity training at Macy’s, and they actually made some good points, like people can feel left out. But I just need some brainstorming, if you all don’t mind. Thanks!
Please include that the workplace should be diverse but not exclude people in order to be diverse. People should be hired equally on their ability and experience not because of their race so that the numbers show diversity…..
when people know they will be hired because a company needs to be diverse it takes away the incentive to excel.
No one should be excluded but only those that qualify should be hired………… efforts need to be made so that all races have many many individuals that qualify.
