Different ways to brainstorm with story idea’s?

I am amateur when it comes to writing. I’ve never really written a story, but, I’ve came up with idea’s plenty of times. I’m currently planing on writing a story that continues/expands into more. I’m not quite sure exactly what to write about yet, so I’m wondering if any of you guys have any brainstorming tips?
I’ve also figured I’d make a list of ten things to go wrong with my character. Would it hurt to add more than ten ?
Thanks in Advance.
The most important thing to do, is get all your ideas down – brainstorm, list, whatever – then make a plan. Revise it, make sure it’s realistic, leave it for a week or two, then revise it again. When you’re happy, start to write and do not alter your plan half-way through. The most important thing, though, is to plan everything. Otherwise plots start to wonder off, characters get their habits forgotten a chapter into the book or the whole thing becomes completely unrealistic. As for getting ideas down, I would start with the very basic things, ie. number of main characters ect.
I don’t know what you mean by a list of 10 things to go wrong with your character?
that’s a good idea to list things about your character, now just make an outline and leave space. 10 is a lot of problems, but it’s your story and it could end up being cool (but it also depends on how long it is. you don’t want to have a 2 page story where 10 things go wrong like a melodramatic soap opera)
also in your outline you can have arrows going to different things that could happen if you’re not sure what to do, and then you can pick which one you like the best in the end. good luck!

Same as me. Try taking aspects of your life whether it be people, places, events that made you sad or mad or happy, and expand them to make them melodramatic. Take bit by bit like a puzzle peice and try and fit the ideas in some way.
Ex. If your writing about a girl you knew, a plan ride you took, and a death of a friend maybe the girl knew that friend and was on the plane with her and it went down causing the friend to not survive and the girl mentally scarred and afraid of planes.
Sorry if that’s a stupid idea, I made it up quick but I hoped that helped.

I suffer from alot of writer’s block.
i love to read and right
and i find that as long as u have a solution in some way for each problem you can have as many problems as you want
-to brainstorm -have a paper where you write down the names ur using, the plot, setting , climax, the steps to and from the climax , and the problems and the solutions
-kids books- anything that teaches any sort of lessen even if its a small lesson theyll like it and with some sort of joke or funny part
teenagers like books with vampires, wherewolves , whiches, fantasy stories … almost any kind of books really as long as you have a strong plot your story will be amazing
good luck!!!
