This is a song I created at home using Ableton Live and my favorurite guitars. The piece is intended to be one track that moves from one idea to the next kind of like a DJ’s mix tape, however I have split it into 5 parts as it was too large to upload as one piece. The song is going to be my 3rd album available for download from the links on my channel page.

When I sat down and began to brainstorm about writing and filming “How To Break 90 in 3 Easy Lessons”, I tried to think of a couple of sticking points that a majority of all my students over the years had struggled with in order that I might use these common threads as the foundation for my new interactive golf training system.

After considerable thought, I came up with three problematic areas that virtually every student I’ve ever taught has struggled with at one time or another.

These three areas are grip, alignment, and posture.

I’m going to talk a bit about alignment today and try to impress upon you why alignment is so important. I’ll address grip and posture in subsequent articles.

The reason I’m starting with alignment is because I played on Saturday with 3 guys who have the athletic ability and talent to shoot in the 70′s. Each of them failed to break 90 and the biggest reason why was, you guessed it, improper, inconsistent alignment.

Two of the three players set up well to the right of their intended target-line and then came over the top in varying degrees with various degrees of success in an effort to find the target. Some of their shots were very good but their misses were all over the park. Some sliced wildly to the right, some were pulled wildly left, and some were even, dare I say it, shanks. The other gentleman simply couldn’t decide whether or not he was going to set up right of the target, left of the target, or at the target rendering his swing ineffective because he was constantly trying to find the target line from different alignment positions. These alignment difficulties caused most of the problems for the three players and ultimately cost them all a really good score.

Remember, these are good players, players who hit long solid shots. They hit balls regularly. They have expensive equipment. They play regularly. Why haven’t they taken the time to master this necessary fundamental?

Now I know that working on your alignment is not as exciting as the “How To Hit It 400 Yards DVD” but I guarantee that working on your alignment will yield lower scores and you just might realize that your swing is better than you thought.

The ability to find the target line over and over is absolutely essential. This is not optional folks. Consistently good alignment is a must if you are to shoot good scores on a consistent basis.

There are very few certainties in golf and the many uncertainties are probably what attract so many people to this crazy game. There are multiple challenges on each and every shot and no two shots are exactly the same.
There are numerous variables throughout the game of golf that we cannot control including the wind, the layout of the hole, distance to the target, and other elements that can all change from shot to shot and hole to hole.
With so many variables changing on each shot, it’s extremely important that we maximize our consistency and take complete charge of the variables we can control, variables like our alignment.

You MUST master this fundamental if you hope to consistently shoot low scores. There is no substitute for solid fundamentals regardless of what the TV swing gurus and gadget-hawks tell you. The better your alignment and the more consistent it is, the easier it will be for you to hit good golf shots on a regular basis. Take this concept to heart and master the fundamentals of great alignment.

I need to brainstorm some topics about the environment. For example, environmental degradation, alternative energy, global warming, climate justice, waste management, food, population, political interests, media, water, corporate responsibility, individual responsibility, green investment…

Can you please give some as many key words as possible? They may not be closed related to the environment, just having some link will do. Please give topics which do not overlap with one another. I will choose the answer with the most and highest quality key words.

Thank you for your help!

Sustainability, resource management, sustainable development, precautionary principle, exponential population growth, ecological footprint, carbon neutral, land degradation, soil degradation, food security, water resources, ecological succession, carrying capacity, deforestation, biodiversity loss, energy resources, energy resource consumption, air pollution, greenhouse effect, oil spill, pesticides, human health, genetically modified organisms, freshwater depletion, biomass, solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hybrid cars, ozone depletion, water quality, water wars.

I gave you a lot of key words that look at not only the current issues regarding the environment but also future ones. Good luck with the brainstorming!

Mentoring is a challenging skill that requires more than just training on communication skills. Before you send your Supervisors to leadership training, coaching training or a course in Management 101, put these processes in place first in order to truly drive change for your business and create Mentors that have a mission.

1. Provide A Mentoring Mission Statement.
Just like travelers need a map to know where they are going, Mentors need a mentoring mission statement to know their direction and understand whether they are approaching their destination. Implement this Mentoring Mission Statement so that all of your Mentors know their direction and have a gauge of whether they are all achieving the desired goals:
Mentoring Mission Statement:
“Inspire others to continually strive for higher levels of performance through creative and strategic methods that are always focused to achieving your goals.”

2. Expand On The Mission.
Now that you have a mentoring mission statement, you don’t want it to be just a sign on the wall. You want to make sure that everyone truly LIVES and BREATHES the mission. Put a standard in place that all of your Mentors spend five minutes at the end of every day evaluating their daily performance as a mentor. They must ask themselves 4 questions:
Was I inspiring?
Was I focused to higher levels of performance?
Was I creative and strategic in my mentoring methods?
Was I focused to achieving the goals of this company?

3. Focus On The Mentors’ Behaviors.
What does inspiring mean? If I just tell the mentors to “be inspiring”, they may all have a different opinion of what that means. brainstorm with them on the words and phrases that are inspiring and the actions that are inspiring. Here are some examples:
INSPIRING WORDS AND PHRASES:
“I appreciate your effort on this project.”
“I trust your judgment.”
“Thank you for your assistance with our new employee.”
“I value your feedback on the new process.”
INSPIRING ACTIONS:
Model the desired behaviors that you expect.
Make eye contact when speaking.
Greet everyone at the beginning of their shift.
Post your daily results so everyone knows what they are accomplishing.

4. Hold Your Mentors Accountable.
Just like front-line employees are held accountable for doing their job, Mentors must also be held accountable. Once you have the list of inspiring words and actions, be sure to observe their daily communications with the employees to see if they are doing what they are supposed to do. Do you see your Supervisors in their offices all day? Are your Supervisors constantly in meetings? Are Supervisors reading and analyzing reports rather than meeting with employees? Be sure that your Supervisors are spending time with their employees in order to drive change for your business.

5. Spend Time Mentoring Your Mentors.
Watch and listen to your Mentors communicating with your front-line employees. Is the word choice positive and passionate? Is the tone inflected to show enthusiasm? Is the body language positive to show interest and engagement? (Smiling, nodding head, open arms instead of crossed arms, etc.) Are there probing questions being asked to show concern and involvement? These are key behaviors that must be demonstrated in order to be inspiring and help others succeed.

6. Meet With Each Mentor.
Once you have observed each Mentor coaching the employees, sit down with each Mentor individually and come up with a mentoring plan. Each of your Mentors has strengths and opportunities for improvement. Some of your Mentors may not be using inspiring words. Others may not be modeling the desired behaviors. Others may not feel comfortable communicating with employees regarding behaviors that need to change. Communicate with each Mentor what the focus behavior is that you would like to change. Set a time frame for changing that behavior and hold each one accountable for making those changes.

The success of your business is hinging on the skills of your Mentors. If your front-line Supervisors are simply checking time sheets, participating in meetings or reading reports, you are not gaining the greatest return on investment from your Mentors. Your Mentors are the key to driving change in your business. Help your Mentors to learn how to mentor with the mission of driving change and producing higher performance!

People think that when you reach that half century mark from there on it is just downhill all the way. I have news for them you are as old as you feel.

At what age can you start a business opportunity? Any age, I think it all depends on the law of the country where you live. Why do people start a home business? There are many reasons why, to many to count. Go and write them down, you will fill a few pages.

The ultimate reason why people over that miracle half century start there home business is mainly to supplement there retirement income. Many do it also because they have no retirement benefits. Make no mistake, in the latter case there are thousands.

The question is what can I do? How can I do it? When must I start doing it? How much can I make?

Take a couple of days or even a month to brainstorm this idea. Take a notepad and write every thing down that crosses your mind. Write down your strengths and weaknesses. Start putting your ideas in categories. Compare the different categories with your strengths and weaknesses. Once you have completed this very important exercise, a new world will emerge before you. Your almost new born business will be staring you in your face. It will be like switching on a light in a dark room.

The other two questions, how can I start and when must I start will be answered immediately. You must take immediate action because as the proverb goes “Those who hesitate are lost”.

The remaining question how much can I make? That depends entirely upon you. If you treat it as just another venture, not much, but if you treat it with the respect that it deserves, it will pay you handsomely.

Do not abandon it when the first failure occurs, that will happen no matter what, but make the necessary adjustments. Stay motivated, be determinant and mostly persevere.

If you do that, you can also be in line to become the entrepreneur of the year. Many other people over that half century mark have won this prestigious tile off “Entrepreneur of the year.” You might be the next person to receive this prestigious title of Entrepreneur off the Year.

With the Grace of God, you can do it, no matter what. The most important question for you is not when I must start; the answer must be and should be Today I am going to do something about it.
